Wood vinyl Hardy by Michael Lau.

Here come another release from Michael Lau, this time is the 9" wood vinyl figure of Hardy, the founder of Maharishi. The figure is upside down is because Hardy is a Yoga master and he can do that post anytime. This time the figure is limited to 79pcs and in 4 different wood colors. Fools Paradise....

I didn't post that much lately, because so damn busy on preparation on becoming a father in July. But that didn't stop me on collecting. Just have to be more selective on what to get, need to spend it wisely. I'm excited on Fools Paradise handmade 05 RAIN, it got delay few months but is good that finally going to start shipping next week. The giant resin DaLowFool will start shipping the week after too. While the RAIN is being delay but Alan already started working on the handmade 06. From the spy photos look like the figure is an astronaut, but with a rabbit style. Looking forward to that.

Happy to see that Mr. Takeji Nagakawa saw the pictures that I took for my 2ft. tall Matoi Douji. Saw his post in his blog and the pictures that he took for Matoi Douji. Now I'm convince that this is truly a one off piece. Because the left leg does have the line that is not align, same as the one that I have. Close to spring or early summer he will have another exhibition I believe, let's see by that time what new works Take-G will be showing.

6" X 2 Original NY FAT.

Suddenly being available on www.crazysmiles.com limited to 199 pcs. Priced at $999HKD + shipping. It is a 12" tall vinyl, only different this time is has a movable arms, that's look a lot better than the previous release. Color way is in the original color same as the 12" gardener NY FAT also the 6" vinyl release back in 2003. But why not create another new gardener characters in 6"X2? Cacooca handmade - Downjacket Panda...

 

My friend Cacooca a Beijing base figure artist finally is releasing his first handmade figures internationally. The panda has been his signature figures of course not to mention the figures that he designed for Li-Ning. I met him in Beijing before and he did talk about how the commercial mass produce figure didn't turn out the way he want it to. Now with this Downjacket Panda he will go back to his root handmade 30 pcs and will not produce in this colorway anymore. Figure come with numbered cert. and a wood box. If you wanna try something new, you might wanna check out Cacooca works.

Gardener 108 - ZEX.

I make my purchase for this ZEX while I'm in China. It took 5 days to sold out all 300 pcs of the figures. It doesn't matter how limit it is..as long as you love the piece. If every ML works can be purchase via crazysmiles.com then it will be awesome. Look like something will be ready for us again in MARCH. See that broken heart it said "I Love ZEX Sold Out, See you in March 2012" 

A little fun fact about ZEX is that his penis has a joint that allow it point any direction, 6:30 or 12:00 direction no problem at all.

Gardener 108 - ZEX.

Just landed in Hong Kong and upon opening up facebook saw these new images of Gardener 108 ZEX. The vinyl form does capture action man figure body element same as the 12". Still no words if there will be more gardener vinyl will be release on the Mar 1 - 11. ZEX is priced at $848 HKD ($110 US) + Shipping. Price for 6" gardener vinyl is gone up so much, compare to before priced at $500 HKD for a 6" gardener vinyl. The bear is not going to be part of the 108 ZEX package, let's see if ML will sell this seperately. Still have to give credit to ML that now finally international collectors can purchase his works through his web site.

Coolrain x seman 10cm : Pithecuse wood pattern ver.

Received e-mail and the chat room here ask about when CR will ship the Pithecuse Wood pattern statue. Got a message from CR that this hand made statues is going to finished next week, so collectors that waiting patiently the answer to you is that the statue will be coming to you soon.

Gardener 108 - ZEX.

Received news from crazysmiles. Look like ML is not going to stop the 6" vinyl Gardener series. Starting from March 1 - 11 collectors around the world can order this Gardener 108 - ZEX through crazysmiles site. 

ZEX come with extra hands, necklace and a vinyl penxx (u know what!). Price and edition size still not available. I wonder will this be the only figure that are going to be available?? Because usually during previous CSBOOTH when releasing gardener vinyl, most of the time ML release more than one characters or a special version. We'll see...

For those that ordered the wood pithecuse statue from coolrain, hang in there as each statues is hand casted and painted. Also the wood box. Just hang on! Here are the new 12" that CR did for the Design Toy Exhibition Vol.2 at Design Square (Feb 2 - Feb 15). Also, another shot of his workshop....notice the wall a leborn James design. The figure will be available as NBA series 2 and also in 20" format.

crazy ZEX year!

Look like ML is going to have another round of release this month. Still not sure if is web release like last time for the CCKING or will it be an event hosted at his gallery. But one thing for sure is look like going to related to Terry Richardson. We first saw a life size Terry Richardson figure in his exhibition "from Rio to Hong Kong" back in 2007. Then again in 2009 Gardener 10th exhibition in LA as Gardener 108 ZEX 12" figure. What will it be this time.....in vinyl form or in 12" format?! Time will tell.

January been away for business, went to London and spend some great quality time with my wife there. Enjoy checking out street art in London specially brick Lane. Missed the KAWS partners figures release, probably will get back later when the hype die down. End of February going back to Asia for work again. 2012 gotta be a good one.

David Flores x Hellfire - Deathead.

 

Knew about David Flores works for sometime, but just didn't have any of his works in the collection. But this time his Deathead most likely will be my first David Flore piece into the collection. This figure is about 10" tall, look like is going to come in 5 colorway, image here is the original version and the other four colorway will be brown, green, red and black. Still no words on when will be release.

Steve Jobs figure.

 

I saw this Steve Jobs 1/6 figure few days ago online produced by DID toys. DID toys is a China company that did lots of 1/6 figure. The first impression I have is this an Apple approved product? Is smart for DID to come up a new company name especially for this figure release, called "inicons". The figure was available to pre-order at $99.99 USD each without shipping. Take-G Toys.

Knew about Take-G Toys since 2007. Takeji (Take-G) Nakagawa is the artist behind Take-G. He held an exhibition every year, and this is the only chance for collectors to see or purchase his hand crafted wood works. He usually make more for the small pieces, but the large pieces he only make 1 or 2 pieces. His work is not just a normal wood sculpture, but is the traditional Yosegi-Mokuzougan...in Japan the Hakone-Odawara region is famous for this traditional handcraft. Each piece is using different type of wood glue them together first, and then sculpt it to create the different wood tone effect, not a single drop of paint used on each piece.

This year the exhibition was held at his home and studio in Nagano, I'm so happy that I would be able to finally purchased his works and reviewed every piece at the exhibition. The piece that I got it is called "Matoi Douji", it stand about 2 ft. The piece is constructed by about over 7 pieces. There is a little guy and a chicken plane I choose to go with "Matoi Douji". This small piece stand about 6" tall, and it usually make more. But for big piece like "Matoi Douji", it will be just one off piece from the exhibition. Mr. Nakagawa usually make 2 pieces for the big one, he will keep one for future exhibition to show. This is a piece to end the year of 2011 for me. (more images after the jump...)

Amoebahood - Dynamicduo 10th anniversary.

Just received this Dynamicduo figures and the signed CD from my friend Coolrain . Both figures is Chiza and Gaeko from the Dynamicduo. Each figure around 4.5" tall come with a dynamite, sunglasses and hat. You can still order them through CharacterM. Individual blind boxed figure at $29 each. There is a golden figure mixed into the blind box. Good luck.... As for their album, DynamicDuo music is more to the hip hop beat type. So is cool to listen to in car.

For CCKING throne, the design concept is the throne assemble by crazychildren figure boxes and 12" crazymichael boxes. There are crazychildren series 1-3 boxes with the cut shadow of the characters. Any of you remember which CC is missing in the series 2? Yes, CC18, although the figure might not see the light, but ML does leave his shadow on the throne, so he is still part of the series 2.....and will it be ever going to release..?? Looking at the shadow..look like is a character that posing upside down...
